SUMMARY
 Supervise the daily operations for the preparation, analysis and
 distribution of the Company's payroll, including the gross to net
 calculation of the paycheck and delivery of an accurate and timely
 paycheck
 while maintaining confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other
 duties may be assigned.
 *     Supervise all aspects of the system-wide payroll processing cycle
 for all locations and employees.  This includes overseeing maintenance of
the payroll system, finding solutions for routine payroll related issues,
troubleshooting atypical problems, ensuring accuracy of payroll/timekeeping
data and edits, wage attachment and general deductions, gross to net
 calculation, PTO process, and verification.
 *     Support leadership in planning, developing, implementing and
 maintaining payroll automation needs.  Manage all functional testing of
 the Peoplesoft and PROFIT systems.  Provide the design, maintenance and
processing support for the PJ Time Interface system which processes all detail payment transactions from all business units.  Troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
*     Work closely with payroll control and payroll tax area to insure
 accurate accounting transactions, bank activity, stock options updates, tax
coding, and tax treatment of earnings and deductions maintaining and
reviewing year to date balancing.
 *     Prepare and establish written policies and procedures regarding
 payroll, work as liaison between payroll and IS to insure understanding
 of implementation, correction, and revision of payroll processing.
 *     Manages the daily activity and development of approximately 5
 payroll processing team members.
Oversees all aspects of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll reporting operations for the Company

Job Description Summary

A one or two sentence overview of the purpose of this job.

Responsible and accountable for all aspects of payroll processing at the corporate level.  Reconciles general ledger accounts, maintains compliance with multi-state and federal government reporting requirements. Provides support to management in data management, custom reports and general administrative duties.   

Essential Job Functions

Numbered listing of all duties required and essential to this position.  “Essential” means the job would be fundamentally changed if one of these items was omitted

  1. Responsible for preparation, maintenance, and distribution of payrolls according to company policy
  2. Preparing and submitting state and federal tax reporting
  3. Review and enforce payroll policies and SOX/JSOX controls
  4. Complete payroll related journal entries and account reconciliations
  5. Prepare payroll related analyses, such as headcount, O.T. % reports, Payroll statistics, etc.
  6. Assist with year-end, workers comp and Benefits audits
  7. Participate in continuous process/procedure improvements
  8. Reviews and approves payroll deductions, wage assignments and child support payments
  9. Remits employee/employer payroll withholdings to all appropriate authorities on a timely basis
  10. COBRA administration
  11. Maintain PTO balances and attendance history records
  12. Responsible for maintaining benefit updates in Payroll/Benefits system and reconcile insurance records
  13. Resolve payroll questions and problems for employees and supervisors.
  14. Maintain payroll and benefit records in compliance with company policies and legal requirements

Qualifications

Education   

Associates degree preferred. 

Program of Study

Accounting/Finance , business or related program. 

Experience  

5 years experience in complete payroll processing

Certification          .

 Prefer CPP/FPC /CEBS/CBP 

Knowledge         

Must have advanced knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of payroll, benefits and/or accounting; regulatory requirements (ERISA, DOL, IRS, etc) modern office practices and procedures; data processing; laws pertaining to payroll; record-retention knowledge and techniques.  Must have complete knowledge of the mechanics of the Payroll/HR/Benefits System.

Skills           

Solid analytical and technical skills;  Must be proficient with a 10/12 key calculator; excellent verbal and written communication skills; Detail oriented, self motivated, pro-active and absolute integrity required.

Able to use computer software applications: Word, Excel, Sequel 

Abilities        .

Must possess knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in the use of payroll/accounting system software, i.e., Ultipro/Lawson/Peoplesoft payroll system.  Must be able to work with little direction and able to define, solve, collect, analyze, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Interface professionally with all employees.

Shelbyville manufacturer seeks Payroll Benefits Administrator for career opportunity.  This position requires experience in a manufacturing setting plus familiarity with processing payroll via ADP.  This position reports up to the Human Resources Manager.  The duties include ADP weekly processing, new hire enrollments, benefits administration, and verifying time and attendance records. 
Salary is up to $34,000 plus benefits.
